Minutes away on modern highways or winding back roads, today’s Manassas belies the bloody battles that took place during the Civil War. From the development, commercial and residential, that radiates from Old Towne Manassas, it’s difficult for visitors to imagine the sweeping fields that accommodated hunting along the business bypass of Rt.234, let alone the raging action of the First and Second Manassas Battlefields, just to the west.
